More With Short A

We had a fast Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT (Handwriting Without Tears). Next, we read "The Adventures of Abby Alligator " and came up with more "A" words. For ELA Workshop, we added secret centers to visit. My groups worked on letter of the week (A) handwriting using proper form and grip. Independent groups helped find "Short A" words. Secret Center groups either wrote color words at the Writing Center, dot painted a rainbow at the Art Center, or played with puzzles, blocks, and games at the Play Center. After snack and recess, we had math. Our lesson included counting with fingers, cubes, and the rekenrek. We also tried to classify objects into two pre-set categories.

After lunch, we recited "Ring Around the Rosies" and worked on our letter, sound, rhyming, and oral blending skills. We visited Mr. Withers in the library to read a story and check out a new book. Great job bringing them in everyone! At Spanish, we reviewed colors and played some games, including a memory game and a speed game. It was "Get Strong Day" in P.E., so we played  "Spy Tag" and "Color Tag." We ended the day with some music and movement. Then we packed up and lined up for home.
