Harold and the Purple Crayon and Two Assemblies

We had another busy day in Room 203. We began our Wednesday with our morning activities. We also had an anti-bullying assembly in the auditorium led by Mr. E. Since we did such a nice job, we went out for recess and had snack a little early. We went back to the auditorium later to meet Jon Agee, author of "Lion Lessons." He read his book and made up stories and drawings for everyone to see. It was fun!  When we got back to Room 203, we read "Harold and the Purple Crayon" and had ELA workshop. At my table, students drew their favorite part of the story in purple crayon (like Harold). Independent groups worked on coloring "The Rules at My School." Center groups played with the kitchen, puzzles, and blocks, or read books.

After lunch, we practiced our poem of the week "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Be sure to try it at home! Then we watched a video version of "Harold and the Purple Crayon." We had a little extra time, so we drew pictures for Mr. Ricker.  We ended the day with Second Step. Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z joined me as we did lesson one. We focused on listening and rules for Second Step. We also introduced the puppy puppet and played a "follow" game. Then we packed up and lined up for home.
