Bus Drill

We had another great day in Room 203. We began our day by unpacking and organizing our lunches. Our new magnet method seems to be working! Next, we said the Pledge of Allegiance and listened to morning announcements made by our principal Mr. Ellwanger.  After updating the calendar and singing our new alphabet song, we read a book about kindergarten. We used it to transition into our workshop time. My group wrote about what they hope we do this year in kindergarten. Answers included going on a field trip, learning Spanish, making art, and playing games. Independent groups worked on matching like shapes. Free choice groups got to play with friends, put together puzzles, build with blocks, or read books. We did a nice job!  Another interesting part of our morning was  the bus drill. The class went out onto the yard by the commons where there were two buses. We boarded a bus and learned the rules and safety guidelines that we need to know when we have a field trip. Again, we were complimented on our behavior. We had our morning recess and snack before finishing the morning by decorating our Friday Folders, which will go home tomorrow.

Our afternoon went by quickly. We had Music with Miss Hanson and Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. We had some share time, reviewed letters, took pictures, and had a little free play to end our day. We also  sang our "Wake Up Toes" song, which is pretty fun. Then we got our things and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish parent surveys and return green homework folders tomorrow!
