More With C and Lines

We had a busy Tuesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. After Road to Reading, we had Writer's Workshop. This will be its regular time. We had a mini-lesson on books, writing, and teaching stories before students got to write their own teaching (narrative) story. We did a nice job!  We also got to use pens to write, which was pretty fun. After snack and recess, we read "Copycats," came up with more words that start with "C," and had our ELA Workshop. Students focused on "C" phonics and words.  My groups worked on proper "C" handwriting. We also did some lowercase letter identification. We'd like to thank Charlotte's mom for volunteering, too. Any parents interested in helping out during workshop on a regular basis can email me anytime!

After lunch, we recited "Hickory, Dickory Dock" and had an intro art lesson on lines. We learned the difference between thick and thin lines. At the library, we listened to a story from Mr. Withers and checked out books. In Spanish, we studied and sang a song about the months of the year. In P.E. it was "Combination Day," where we combined "Get Fast" and "Get Strong." When we got back to the room, we used primary colored paint to make thick and thin line pictures. Then we cleaned up, packed up, and lined up for home.
