The Letter J

We had a fun Monday back in Room 2.  We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition. Next, we took care of our morning activities, which include calendar, the alphabet song, our vowel song, the poem of the week, our phonetic alphabet, the Pledge of Allegiance, and some warm up exercises. Then we read "my 'J' Book" and came up with some "j" words. At language arts rotations, students used crayons, glue and plastic jewels to make the tactile page "Jewels on 'J's on a Jellybean." My groups took the chapter 3 math test and practiced good "J" handwriting and sentences. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We introduced chapter 4: Composing and Decomposing Numbers to Ten. Students did some counting review and traced some number words. We also tried to find different ways to build a number.

After lunch, we recited our new poem "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling" and had art with Ms. Maria. The class used oil pastels to make flower pictures. They also had some free draw. Next, we introduced Bishop as our "Star of the Week." He shared his cool poster and took questions from the class. At P.E., we used balls and jump ropes. When we got back to Room 2, we had a Halloween project. We used construction paper to make Halloween bats. They came out nice! Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework packets for the week. The big event of the week is our party on Friday. Be sure to pack, not wear, Halloween costumes on that day. Thanks!
