Five Little Pumpkins

We had a good Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read the books "Pumpkin Eye" and Five Little Pumpkins." At language arts rotations, students worked on making their own five little pumpkin puppets by decorating, cutting, and taping them to popsicle sticks. They look cute! My groups wrote a friendly letter to Asher, the Star of the Week. The other groups had the last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had math. We worked on counting by tens. Most got it fast, but be sure to review at home!

After lunch, we read "Room on the Broom" and recited "Little Jack Horner." We also worked on rhyming and sang "Apple and Bananas." Then we had art. We started a new unit on shape. After looking at shapes and some paintings, we drew a picture of a space creature using lines and shapes. Then we used oil pastels to outline and color. For Star of the Week, Asher shared some nice famiy photographs. At P.E., we worked on bouncing a ball and jump roping. To end the day, we used watercolors to paint in the background. They look great! Then we cleaned up, packed up, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow.  Also, tomorrow is picture day! We have an 8:15 A.M. slot, so try to be on time. Have your child neatly dressed and groomed as you'd like for class and yearbook photographs. Thanks!
