All About Me

We had a fun Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting our "All About Me" book projects and having Nutrition. When we came inside, we read "Gorilla, Be Good" and came up with more "G" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "G" phonics and words. My groups took the chapter 2 math test and practiced good "G" handwriting. The other groups had secret centers. After recess we had Tech Lab. Ms, Castro showed us how to play games focusing on the alphabet, upper and lowercase letters, and ABC order. The games included: "Alphabet Match," "ABC Order" and more. You can always access our games at planetbravo.com/thirdstreet/. When we got back to Room 2, we recited "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" and worked on rhyming words.

After lunch, we shared our "All About Me" books. Students have done a wonderful job reading and presenting to the class!  We got through about half of our projects. I hope to finish sharing them tomorrow and Thursday. Next, we celebrated Stella's birthday. Her mom came by with treats (including milk and homemade cookies) that we enjoyed after singing "Happy Birthday!" To end the day, we had Reading Buddies for the first time. Mr. Bassett's fourth graders from Room 19 came by and we gave every student a "reading buddy." Our class read their "All About Me" books and got a chance to listen and look at books with an older friend. It went very well. We hope to continue this every Tuesday until the end of the year. Then we cleaned up, packed up, reviewed our homework, and lined up for home.
