The Earth

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "Pumpkins" and "The Little Pink Pig." At language arts rotations, students worked on matching "short i" words and pictures" They also tried some "I" sentences. My groups wrote about pumpkins in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation.  After recess, we had math. We worked on counting and identifying numbers from 1 to 100. These problems were very specific, so be careful when completing the homework tonight.

After lunch, we recited "Little Jack Horner," did some rhyming, and finished our last math dot to dot page. Then we had science. After studying color, prisms, light, shadows, and the sun, we are starting a unit on the Earth. We learned a few facts, including that the Earth is covered by water, land, and air. Then we colored in an Earth model. For Star of the Week, Asher shared his favorite book: "Bad Kitty." It is a chapter book, so we read two chapters together. At P.E., Coach Angel had the class use double scooters! We sat and worked on our scooter skills with a partner. In the library, Mrs. Singh read us two stories, including "Arthur's Halloween." To end the day, we packed up, reviewed homework, sang "Happy Birthday" to Madison, and lined up for home.
