Halloween Party

We had a super fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition. After our morning activities, we read "Pumpkin Day, Pumpkin Night" and "A Pumpkin, a Pumpkin." At language arts rotations, students worked on sequencing the life cycle of a pumpkin. My groups read "Am I?" and wrote a friendly letter to Bishop, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we visited Room 21. We sang songs and got a chance to play with the students in Ms. Yuki's class. It was a lot of fun!

After recess, we recited "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling" and read "The Biggest Pumpkin." Then we had Star of the Week. Bishop brought in decorations for the class to estimate. There were 37 decorations! We also counted Super Star Sticks and awarded prizes for the students that earned twenty. Finally, we packed up all of our things for home so that we could have our Halloween party.  Students changed as soon as our parents arrived. We started the party by performing "Five Little Pumpkins." The class did a fantastic job!  Then we got to do four activities in small groups: make a foam jack-o-lantern, decorate a real pumpkin, draw and paint a spider web, and play pin the tail on the skeleton. They were great!  Next we read "The Hallo-Weiner" while the parents set up. Then we got to enjoy all the delicious food that was brought. After a little play time, we ended the party with a "freeze" dance, which was a big hit. I hope that everyone had a good time! (Extra special thanks to our awesome room parents: Jack's mom, Ethan's mom, Stella's mom, and Moses' mom!)  Have a wonderful weekend! Happy Halloween!
