The Letter G

We had a busy Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and with our morning activities. Then we read "My 'G' Book" and brainstormed some "G" words. At language arts rotations, students used crayons, glue, and glitter to make the tactile page "Glitter on 'G's on a Goldfish." My groups took the chapter 2 math test and worked on good "G" handwriting and words. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We introduced Chapter 3 on Numbers Beyond 10. We reviewed our counting skills, introduced new vocabulary, and traced numbers and number words to 20.

After lunch, we introduced our new poem "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary." Then we had Art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. Students worked on drawing a whole person using a black marker. Everyone had a toy model to position and look at as they drew.  We also had free draw with markers. For P.E., we played with bouncy balls on the big yard. When we got back, we shared some "All About Me" books. They're not due until tomorrow, but we thought we'd let Charis, Zachary. Kaia, and Asher share their project since they brought them in early. (Pierra shared hers on Friday.) We also read "I Am an Apple" and put together things that an apple tree needs to grow (sun, water, soil). Then we packed up, passed out homework folders, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Remember that "All About Me" book projects are due TOMORROW. Also, be sure to look over homework for the week. Book orders are included this week. Order forms with payment should be turned in by Friday with homework, if you're interested. You can also order online using our class code. See me if you have any questions.
