The Letter B

We had a colorful Monday in Room 203. We spent our morning talking and learning about the letter "B." We read "My 'B' Book," brainstormed words that start with "B," and used crayons, glue and black beans to make the tactile page "Beans on 'B's on a Balloon." We practiced our alphabet and phonics skills, and had Reader's Workshop, too. We focused more on private reading time. After snack and recess, we had Writer's Workshop. We talked about how writers can always write more. Then we went back to our writing from last week to try and add more to it.

After lunch, we recited our new poem "Three Men in a Tub" and had math. We practiced counting to five and ten, built the numbers to five with the class, and played a counting game with a partner. For science, we finished up our rainbow projects from Friday. We put the colors that we saw with our prisms in order (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) and even glued on a puffy cottonball cloud. Cute!  We ended the day with Spanish and P.E. We learned about the colors with Sra. Colmenero in Spanish and played a fun obstacle course with Mr. Simatic in P.E.  Then we passed out homework folders and got ready for home.

Be sure to look over homework packets for the week. They include book orders (which are due Friday) and a note about Parent/Teacher Conferences in October. Let's have a great week!
