The Computer Lab and a Taste Experiment

We had a warm day in Room 203. It continues to be unseasonably hot and muggy, so please continue to bring in water bottles to class. We will keep trying to stay cool each day!  We spent our morning working on "C" phonics and by visiting the computer lab. We logged into Lexia for the first time to start playing learning games to improve our literacy. It was also air conditioned in there, so we were happy to stay for awhile!  After snack and recess, we had Reader's Workshop. We focused on rereading books and looking for new information.

After lunch, we recited "Hickory, Dickory, Dock," read "Mrs. Wishy Washy," and sang "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes." In math, we learned about the concept of zero. We practiced writing and counting zero, too. In science, we read a book on taste and had a "Yum or Yuck!" taste experiment. We tried five foods: salty pumpkin seeds, a sweet apple, bittersweet chocolate,  sour lemon, and spicy hot cheetos. Students decided if they liked it (Yum!) or did not like it (Yuck!). It was a lot of fun!  We ended the day by making line pictures in Art with Ms. Sunquist. Then we packed up, counted super star sticks, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
