Lines, Hearing, and a Fire Drill

We had a busy Friday in Room 203. We celebrated Jamari's birthday in our morning meeting and then it was a blur. We finished up some "B" phonics work, had read aloud and Reader's Workshop, and went to the auditorium for a hearing screening. When we came back, we talked about the practice fire drill that was supposed to take place and watched a video on fire safety. I encouraged students to ask parents about your fire plan at home, so if you get asked you'll know why!  After snack and recess, we also talked more about sound and the five senses.

After lunch, we had a math lesson on numbers to five and built linear and array configurations with cubes. We also had an art lesson on lines. We made different lines using the primary colors. First we used crayon, then we used paint. We even tried to make a pattern in our lines. We ended the day with P.E. and Music. During Music, we got that fire drill we were expecting and did a super job being safe and following directions. Then we packed up Friday Folders, passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home.

Have a great weekend!
