Shape Guy or Shape Girl

It was  another hot and muggy day in Room 203. We did our best to deal with the heat. Hopefully it will cool down next week! We spent our morning starting a shape project by coloring and cutting some eye, mouth, hand, and foot pieces. We saved them to finish in the afternoon. We also had Reader's Workshop, focusing on rereading and rethinking. We practiced saying "I think.." when looking at our books. After snack and recess, we had Writer's Workshop. We tried writing words by stretching out the sounds. It took a little time, but everyone  attempted writing a words or two. Yay!

After lunch, we recited "Hickory, Dickory, Dock" and read "Mrs. Wishy Washy. Then we had some students act it out as we read together. It was fun! In math, we practiced writing, counting and identifying the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 0. Finally, for art we finished our shape projects by choosing a shape and gluing on the pieces from the morning. We also folded arms and legs to make a "Shape Guy" or "Shape Girl." They look cute! We ended the day with P.E. and Music. When we got back to the room, we cleaned up, packed up Friday Folders, and passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks.

Have a great weekend!
