Second Step

We had a pleasant Wednesday in Room 203. The heat went away and it was a much nicer day to be in our class. We spent our morning reviewing the letter "D." We read "Detective Dog and the Disappearing Doughnuts," came up with words that start with "D," practiced "D" handwriting, and identified pictures that begin with a "D." We read "I Like Myself "for read aloud and had Reader's Workshop, too. We visited the library and checked out new books with Mr. Withers and Mrs. Frost before having our second day of Road to Reading. After snack and recess, we had Spanish.

After lunch, we recited "Hey, Diddle, Diddle," did a shared reading of "Three Little Kittens," and sang "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes." In math, we practiced number fluency and building numbers using cubes. We made a point to group five together before making numbers 6 and higher. To end the day, we had Second Step. We focused on being assertive today. We learned to get the courage to ask for help when we need it from a friend or the teacher. Then we packed up for home!
