The Five Senses

We had a fun Tuesday in Room 203. We spent our morning reading and practicing writing the letter "B." We read "Bubble Bear" and came up with more "B" words, too. We focused on private and partner reading during Reader's Workshop. We also reviewed the alphabet and some phonics skills. For PEA, we tried throwing Nerf frisbees. It was a bit of a challenge, but we will keep at it! In Writer's Workshop, we found ways to write more and what to do when we think we are done: We added to our pictures, tried to write letters or words, or started a new story.

After lunch, we continued practicing counting skills to five by finding groups of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. For Science, we began a study of the five senses. We read a book called "The Fives Senses" and learned what they are: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching. Then we had a seeing experiment. We created an optical illusion with a goldfish and fishbowl picture to trick our eyes into thinking they saw the fish in the bowl. It was cool!  Hopefully, your child's made it home and they tricked you too!  We ended the day with Music and Spanish. Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Don't forget to bring in library books for tomorrow!
