Visiting the Library

We had a quick Wednesday in Room 203. We spent our morning working with the letter "E." We wrote "e's, read "E is for Elephant," and found more words that start with "E." We also tried reading more storybooks in Reader's Workshop. We continued our literary morning by visiting the library. Mr. Withers read us a story and let us check out new books. Remember, if your child forgets to bring their book, just bring it the next day. Mr. Withers and Mrs. Frost will let them check out one for the weekend.  After Road to Reading, we had indoor snack and recess with the mist and looming rain. Then we went to Spanish. Sra. Colmenero taught the class about the days of the week.

After lunch, we recited "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater," read "Wake Up, Dad," and sang "Tony Chestnut." We also had math. We tried building nine (and other numbers) using cubes. We made linear, circular, and array configurations, too. We ended the day with Second Step. We started a new unit on empathy, with a focus on feelings. We talked about happy and sad, as well as clues to identify each on someone's face. Then we packed up, counted super star sticks, and lined up for home.

It's a short week, so don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!

  1. Tony Chestnut is adorable. Also, thanks for the storybook titles! I like to get them from the library and let the kid be the expert on the book since they've already read it.
