Another Rainy Day

We had another rainy day in Room 203. We spent our morning working on the letter "H." We read "Hide and Seek Hippo," came up with more "H" words, and practiced our "H" handwriting. We also had Reading Buddies for the first time. We partnered up with Mrs. Fogg's 5th grade to look at some books. We hope to continue to meet every Tuesday for reading and some special projects! We also had read aloud, practiced our sight words, and had Reader's Workshop. After Road to Reading, it was still raining, so we had indoor snack and recess. When we finished, we used what happened as the start of a new true story in Writer's Workshop. We wrote stories about what we did at indoor recess, using sight words and our word wall to help. We even tried to add writing to our pictures like yesterday. We will continue these stories later in the week.

After indoor lunch and recess, we recited "Pease Porridge Hot," read "Koala Lou," and sang "Five Little Pumpkins." We also had math. We focused on one more by drawing or adding one more to a set of objects and then counting how many. We also made number steps that illustrate one more. For Star of the Week, we reviewed what we know about Mr. Ricker and I shared my favorite toys. They included a painting, the alien from Toy Story, two plush sharks, a baseball, a boomerang, and some matchbox cars. The class liked them all!  Finally, we started a bat art project. We hope to finish it tomorrow. We ended the day with Music and Spanish. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to bring in library books for tomorrow!
