Parts of a Tree

We had a pretty good Thursday in Room 203. We spent our morning reviewing the letter "F." We read "Fifi Ferret's Flute" and practiced our "F" handwriting and phonics skills. We worked on finding words we know during private reading and then using connecting words while partner reading during Reader's Workshop. We didn't have Road to Reading, so we went to the Computer Lab to play LexiaCore5 literacy games. After snack and recess, we had Writer's Workshop. We continued to write true stories by adding pages to our work. We reread our writing to make sure we had a beginning and end as well.

After lunch, we recited "Three Little Kittens," read "Three Little Monkeys," and sang "Tony Chestnut." We also had math. We counted and wrote numbers to 10. We noted different ways to make 10, too. In Science, we talked more about trees. We reviewed the parts of a tree and then tried to draw a tree with roots, a trunk, branches, and leaves. To end the day, we had Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class color in their line art with primary colors in the style of Mondrian. Then we packed up our things, counted super star sticks, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
