The Letter G

We had a fast Monday in Room 203. We spent our morning sharing about our weekend and studying the letter "G." We read "My 'G' Book," brainstormed words that begin with "G," and used crayons, glue, and glitter to make the tactile page "Glitter on 'G's on a Goldfish." They look cute!  We also read "Blackout" and learned to find, point to, and read exact words in familiar storybooks in Reader's Workshop. We made new groups for Road to Reading, so we met our new teacher and practiced more reading skills. After snack and recess, we had Writer's Workshop. We tried planning our ideas by telling a story first, and then writing.

After lunch, we recited our new poem "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary," read "Feast for 10," and sang "Five Little Pumpkins." In math, we reviewed numbers and tried writing numbers to 20 by ourselves. We also checked to see how high we can count. After some workshop time, we visited the Computer Lab. We played LexiaCore5 learning games. More than half the class was able to log in by themselves!  I will be giving parents our info at conferences in case you'd like to try it at home. To end the day, we went to Spanish and PE. We learned about autumn, the seasons, and months with Sra. Colmenero and played Pac-Man Tag with Mr. Simatic. Then we passed out homework folders, packed up our things, and lined up for home.

Let's have a great week!
