The Letter E

We had a nice Monday back in Room 203. We spent our morning sharing about our weekend and learning about the letter "e." We read "My 'E' Book" together, brainstormed some "short e" words, and used crayons, glue, and Easter grass to make the tactile page "Easter Grass on 'E's on an Elephant." We also read more storybooks at Reader's Workshop, including "Harry the Dirty Dog" at read aloud. After Road to Reading, snack, and recess, we had Writer's Workshop. We continued to write a true story with a beginning and an end.

After lunch, we learned about the number 7 by practicing writing 7s, counting to 7, and by making different configurations with 7.  Next, we went out and enjoyed the day to celebrate Mr. Ricker's birthday. We ended the day with Spanish and P.E. Then we packed up homework folders and passed out certificates for an all green September. Congratulations students!

Be sure to look over homework right away this week. It's due on Thursday, since we have a Teacher's Institute on Friday. Parents, you also have homework. Fill out the "Homework for Parents" survey and return it with your child's folder. A Picture Day order form is also attached.  Return it by next Tuesday, October 10th, which is our Picture Day.

Lets' have a great week!
