Rosie's Walk

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. We read "Rosie's Walk" and reviewed what we know about Zachary. At language arts rotations, students wrote a friendly letter to Zachary, our Star of the Week. My groups read "Rosie's Walk" together and then made a memory game with the characters in the story. I also started our end of the year DiBELS assessments. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We had some more subtraction practice. Most students seem to be working very quickly and accurately. Keep it up!

After lunch, we rehearsed three of our culmination songs with Ms. Genut's Room 8 and Mrs. Navarrette's Room 9. They are really coming along!  We reviewed all 110 sight words when we got back, along with reciting "It's Raining." We had a few extra minutes, so we played our memory games with a partner. For Star of the Week, Zachary had us estimate LifeSavers candies. The class made guesses between 36 and 99. There were 88 LifeSavers candies. Charis got it exactly!  After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we ended the day with a popcorn party!  We ate a cup of popcorn while we watched "The Magic School Bus Gets Eaten," which was about the food chain. Then we packed up Friday Folders, awarded prizes for twenty super star sticks, and gave out certificates for an all-green week. Have a wonderful weekend!
