L Blends and Farm Animals

We had a pretty good Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. Then we read "Cleo's and Clark's Clouds" and brainstormed some"L" blends, including "bl, gl, pl, and cl." At language arts rotations, students worked on finding the missing blend and writing sentences. My groups took our final math test and read Sam and Mat books #10 and #11. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. Since we finish our math series, we are going to review addition and subtraction this week. We spent today discussing different ways to join numbers and then practicing our skills.

After lunch, we learned our new sight words of the week and recited our new poem "It's Raining." We also read "On the Farm" and started our study of the farm and farm animals. We looked for and named several animals that live on the farm. For Star of the Week, we introduced Zachary. He shared his amazing poster and took questions from the class. After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we shared Ethan's, Moses', and Zachary's animal report & diorama projects. Remember that they are due this Wednesday! We spent a little time reading with a friend before ending the day learning another song for our culmination on June 3rd. We ended the day by passing out homework and awarding prizes for twenty super star sticks (we ran out of time on Friday). Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over the homework packets for the week. A yearbook survey is included, so please help your child fill it out for Friday. And remember that our animal report & diorama projects are due Wednesday and our field trip is on Thursday.
