A Whale of a Friday

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. We also read two books on whales. At language arts rotations, students painted their own large whale. My groups took the chapter 12 math test and read Sam and Mat book #10 and #11. The other groups had their first secret center of this rotation. They include: Painting a cow at the art center, games at PlanetBravo.com and Lexia Learning at the computer center, "Six Hogs on a Scooter" by Eileen Spinelli at the listening center, teddy bear addition at the math center, and blocks, mani-tiles, farm animals, and puzzles at the play center. After recess, we visited Ms. Yuki's class. We sang songs with our friends in Room 21 and got a chance to make art, play with cars, draw with chalk, and more. It was fun!

After lunch, we reviewed all 105 sight words, recited "Hot Cross Buns," and shared Peter's animal report and diorama. Don't forget that projects are due on Wednesday!  Next we had a popcorn party!  We earned a chance to munch a cup of popcorn while we watched a movie on water erosion. For Star of the Week, Victoire had us estimate crayons. The class made guesses between 11 and 99. There were 42 crayons. Asher made the best estimate of 40. After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we had a special guest. Zuri's mom, (Miss Cheri) and her friend (Miss Remy) came to lead us in a music class. Students got to sing, dance, play shakers, drums, xylophones, make silly faces, move around the room, and more. They had a great time!  Extra special thanks to Zuri's mom!  Then we packed up Friday folders, passed out certificates for an all-green week, and lined up for home. Have a wonderful weekend!

Don't forget to finish up work on you animal report and diorama projects, which are due on Wednesday. See me or email me if you have questions.
