Ocean Creatures

We had an arty Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. Then we read the book "Creatures of the Deep" about ocean animals. At language arts rotations, students drew and painted ocean pictures. My groups read "A Bud is Up" and worked on Mother's Day projects. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we visited Ms. Yuki's class. We sang songs, played, and even painted with our friends in Room 21. It was fun!

After lunch, we reviewed all of our sight words for the year and recited "Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?" We also read a book on tropical fish and identified the parts of a fish. For Star of the Week, Sam had the class estimate cotton balls. Students made guesses between 15 and 99. We found out that there were 88 cotton balls. Charis guessed it exactly! After P.E. on the big yard, we shared Pierra's animal report & diorama. She did a great job!  Don't forget that projects are due on May 18th. We also looked at books with a friend. Then we packed up Friday Folders, awarded prizes for twenty super star sticks, and gave out certificates for an all-green week. See you on Monday!
