A Hearing Experiment

We had a good Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "Bug Safari" together and talked a little about insects. At language arts rotations, students worked on "Ch" phonics and writing good sentences. My groups read "Ed Can, Ted Can" and wrote about insects in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had math. We reviewed all of our position words from chapter 10 and completed some related activities.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words and recited "Wee Willie Winkie." We also read "Your Five Senses" and had science. We read the book "hearing" and talked about how we hear and our ears. We also discussed ways we can hear better and had a hearing experiment. We used cups tied to a metal hangar to find out how sound moves in waves.  We concluded the lesson by sorting objects we see or hear. For Star of the Week, Olive read us "The Pigeon Loves Things That Go." She did a great job!  At P.E., Coach Angel had the class play our favorite game...soccer! To end the day we went to the library. Mrs. Singh had us explore the library and look at books using a placemarker board. Next week, we will bring home a book to read! This is great practice for first grade.  When we got back to Room 2, we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined ip for home.
