Color Wheels

We had an exciting Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Next we read Olives's favorite book, "In the Sea." Then we wrote a friendly letter to Olive, our Star of the Week. Afterwards, we had music with Mr. B. He had the class play instruments, sing, and dance to "Punchinella." After recess, we had math. We introduced chapter 11, which will be on two-dimensional shapes. We learned some new shapes and the vocabulary terms we will be using during the chapter.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Wee Willie Winkie," and had art. We continued our unit on art by making color wheels. We used paper plates divided into sixths. We started by using tempera paint to color in the primary colors:  red, yellow, and blue. Then we mixed primary colors in between to create the secondary colors: green, orange, and purple. They turned out great! For Star of the Week, Olive shared some nice family pictures. We were put on a rainy day schedule by this point, so we played some sight word bingo because the yard was a little wet. We ended the day watching a movie on sound, since we studied it in science this week. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!  Be sure to include field trip slips and any book orders, if you're interested.
