Checking Out Books in the Library

We had a nice Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read the book "Ladybugs: Red, Fiery, and Bright." At language arts rotations, students worked on "Sh" phonics and sentences. My groups read "Pat and Tip" and wrote an opinion paragraph about best friends in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We examined and identified hexagons together. We made a flower picture using hexagonal shapes to help, too.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Come to the Window," and sang "The Ants Go Marching." We also had science. We read a book on smelling and learned how we smell (through our nose and with the hairs in our nasal cavity and our brain). Next, we had a smelling experiment where we smelled different smelled and tried to identify them. We noticed that closing our eyes and focusing on the scent helped. To conclude the lesson, we sorted good and bad smells. For Star of the Week, Peter read part of his favorite book, "Dinosaur Days." He will finish it tomorrow. At P.E., Coach Angel had the class play "Capture the Flags." At the library, we checked out books for the first time. Most students brought the books home in their backpack. Please help your child keep track of their book so that we can return them next week and check out a new one!  Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
