More With Butterflies

We had a tasty Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read the book "The Life Cycle of a Butterfly." At language arts rotations, students scraped old crayons onto wax paper. With the help of Charis' mom and Moses' mom, we melted the crayon shavings with an iron and attached the colorful result to a butterfly stencil. They look pretty cool!  My groups read about insects along with Sam and Mat book #8. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on using shape blocks to make new shapes. It was a little tricky! We will practice more soon.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Bedtime," and finished our math. Then we had science. We reviewed the five senses and read "Tasting." Then we had a taste experiment!  We tried five food with different tastes: salty pumpkin seeds, sweet apple, bitter dark chocolate, sour lemon, and spicy hot cheetos. The class then decided if they liked them (yum), or didn't like them (yuck). Surprisingly, most students said they liked all of the tastes. For Star of the week, Pierra brought in her favorite book, "Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs." The class thought it was very funny. At P.E., Coach Angel and the class play hockey. To end the day, we checked out books in the library. Remember to bring them back again next Tuesday!  Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
