Bright and Dull Colors

We had a good Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and a quick version of our morning activities. Peter finished reading his favorite book, "Dinosaur Days," to the class. Then we all wrote a friendly letter to Peter, our Star of the Week. Next, we went to Music. Mr. B had the class work on whole, half, quarter, eighth, and one-sixteenth notes while they sang and played instruments. After recess, we had math. We worked on shapes and patterns. Students identified, labeled, and extended patterns of shapes. We will practice more tomorrow.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Come to the Window," and read "Creepy Beetles." We also had art. We looked at pictures that use bright and dull colors  to grab your attention. Then we made a picture of an outdoor place that has bright and dull colors in it. Some examples we had are: the rain forest, a garden, a backyard, and more. We used pencil, then oil pastels before finishing the background with watercolor paints. For Star of the Week, Peter shared some nice family photographs. We ended the day with P.E. on the big yard. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, read a story, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish, check, and bring in homework packets tomorrow!
