Theater and Art

We had a pretty good Thursday in Room 2.  We began our day with calendar and morning activities. Then we read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" At language arts rotations, we worked on sorting family members into two groups: female and male. My groups wrote and illustrated our own version of "Brown Bear." The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Hey Diddle Diddle" and had math. We worked on ordinal numbers through fifth.

After lunch, we went to the auditorium for Theater. Ms. Nichols had students work on pantomime and the nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty." When we got back, we read a book that Dashiell brought in called "Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes." We had afternoon snack and P.E. next on the kindergarten yard. When we came back in, we had art. We continued our unit on lines by looking at smooth and rough lines. Students then made a picture of one of their favorite outdoor places using smooth and rough lines. We started with pencil, then colored with oil pastels, and finished with watercolors. Cleanup was a bit of a challenge, but it all worked out. Then we packed up our things, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
