More with the Letter C

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 2! We started with morning activities and by reading "Copycats." We came up with more words that begin with "C," too. At language arts rotations, students did a "c" phonics cut and paste. My groups read "I Can" and wrote neat "C"s. The other groups started our new secret centers.  They include: Dot painting at the art center, Starfall.com and Abcya.com games at the computer center, shape identification at the math center, magni-tiles and Legos at the play center, and writing family words at the writing center. After snack and recess, we practiced our alphabet, recited "Hickory, Dickory, Dock" and had math. We learned about the number zero.

After lunch, we read "My First Riddles" and sang "Wake Up Toes." For Science, we read "The Sun" and talked about the sun and light. Our project included making a sun shape with colored chalk and decorating the sky with planets, asteroids, astronauts, and more. They look pretty cool!   We had a little extra time, so we did a partner coloring project next. Then we had afternoon snack and recess on the kindergarten yard before going to see Coach Angel. At P.E., Coach Angel had us play "Space Invaders." It's a relay race game where we run to pick up "space rock beanbags" and put them in a big bucket for our team. After a drink at the water fountain, we went to the library. Mrs. Singh read us "Library Mouse." Then we went back to Room 2, packed up, reviewed our homework, and lined up for home.
