Science!

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 2. We started our thirtieth day with Nutrition and our daily morning activities, which included looking for Zero Heroes. Then we read two stories: "A Chair for My Mother" and "F is for Flamingo." At language arts rotations, students completed an "f" cut and paste phonics page. My groups wrote about our families in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Three Little Kittens" and had math. We looked at patterns of numbers, predicting what would come next.

After lunch, we read "A Day with Daddy" and sang "I'm a Little Teapot." We had two mini-lessons for science. The first was to review shadows, how they are made, and how to make them bigger or smaller. Then we made a shadow flip book that showed them go from big, to bigger, to the biggest shadow.  We had a little choose time before we started our next lesson. We've discussed the sun, light, and shadows, so now we will move onto planets. We're focusing on our planet first. We read a book on the Earth and talked about what covers the Earth (water, land, and air). The we colored an Earth picture to show the land and water. We had afternoon snack and some P.E. before there was a lock down drill. We did a great job! Coach Angel came to us for P.E. because of the drill. We did cup stacking because we needed to play a game in the room. We ended the day in the library. Mrs. Singh read us "Lola at the Library" and "Moonbear's Pet." Then we packed up our things and got ready for home!

Don't forget that we do not have school tomorrow. Have a great day and be sure to finish up that homework packet for Friday!
