Brown Bear, Shape Town, and Hand Prints

We had a very arty Friday in Room 2. We began our day by collecting homework and taking care of morning activities. Instead of reading a story, we listened to a story on the white board called "Shape Town." At language arts rotations, students made their own "Shape Town" using circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles. My groups made "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" books. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, Mr. A read us the story "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons." Then we recited "Hey Diddle Diddle" and had math. We counted objects and put them in order from fewest to most.

After lunch, we had a special art project. Emma Cheney (parent in Room 8) led a hand print art project. The class painted their hands, made a print, and then transformed it into an animal (or other object) with paints, crayons, and googly eyes. They came out great! We were also fortunate to have eight of our  parents volunteer to help out. A big "Thank you" to  Alexander's mom, Ashley's mom, Ethan's mom, Jayden's mom, Kayla's mom, Lila's mom, and Nathaniel's mom and dad! We appreciate your help! After we finished, we read another Pete the Cat story. Then we went out for afternoon snack and P.E. We came in and finished our math page with a partner. We ended the day by reading "Clifford's Tricks" and with a partner coloring project. Then we packed up Friday Folders and our things for home, passed out green certificates, and lined up. Have a great weekend!
