The Letter D

We had a fast Monday in Room 2. We began by collecting Friday Folders and with our morning activities. We read "My D Book" and brainstormed some "D" words. At language arts rotations, students decorated "Dots on Ds on a Duck." They used a dot stamper to make the dots. My groups read "I Can, We Can" and practiced "D" handwriting. I also started some DIBELS assessments for letter and sound recognition. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited our new poem "Hey, Diddle, Diddle" and had math. We finished up our activity on "as much, more, and fewer" by counting objects, and then comparing the amounts to other groups.

After lunch, we read "Pup's Numbers" and "Clifford's Family." Then we traced and wrote some family words and finished our family dolls from last week. They're hanging on our bulletin board now!  We had afternoon snack and recess on the kindergarten yard with bouncy balls. When we came in, we had art with Ms. Maria!  Every Monday for 12 weeks, Ms. Maria and Miss Karla will be doing some very cool projects with us. Today we celebrated Korean Thanksgiving by making family portraits. We also got some free draw with markers!  Then we passed out homework folders and lined up for home.

Don't forget that tomorrow is the Back to School Breakfast!  Parents should meet in Room 2 at 8:00 A.M.  Students will be monitored on the yard by Mr. A and Miss Esther. Also, check over the homework packets. We have our first book orders of the year attached. Return forms by Friday (with payment) if you're interested.
