Line Prints

We had another productive day in Room 2. We began with our morning activities and by reading "Clifford's Puppy Days" and "C is for Camel." At language arts rotations, students tried a "C" phonics cut and paste where they spelled out words that start with "c." We even wrote extra words on the back for the first time!  My groups wrote in our kindergarten journals about shapes. The other groups had their first secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Hickory, Dickory, Dock" and had math. We worked on reading and writing the number zero.

After lunch, we were supposed to have theater, Unfortunately, Ms. Nichols was ill today. So we moved our art lesson up. We've been talking about different kinds of lines, such as straight lines, slanted lines, and curved lines. Then, in small groups, we made a line print. We painted a large rectangle shape onto aluminum foil and used our finger to make different kinds of lines. Then we put a small piece of white paper on it, held for ten seconds, and slowly pulled it off to reveal our print. They look very cool!  We also got free time to draw pictures using different kinds of lines, too. Next, we had afternoon snack and P.E. with bouncy balls. To end the day, we read the big book "Who's Baby Am I?" and talked about families. Then we each wrote down how many moms, dads, brothers, and sisters we have and made a small picture. Finally, we cleaned up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to complete and check over your  homework packets for tomorrow!
