Back to School Breakfast

Tuesday was the annual Back to School Breakfast!  Students started the morning on the yard while parents came inside Room 2 to hear Mr. Ricker explain what we're doing this year in kindergarten. Hopefully the presentation was helpful and informative to everyone.  I am grateful for such a strong turnout! When the class returned, we took care of our calendar and morning activities. We read "Detective Dog and the Disappearing Doughnuts." At language arts rotations, students worked on a "D" phonics cut and paste page. My groups read "I Can, We Can" and practiced "d" handwriting. I also continued some initial DIBELS testing.  The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr Scott had the class play four games that focus on clicking and other computer mouse skills: Make a Face, Make a Pizza, Double Clicking, and Ladybug Arrow Keys. When we got back to the room, we recited "Hey Diddle, Diddle," did some rhyming, practiced letter recognition, and had a little circle time.

After lunch, we read "Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs" and played "Mr. Ricker Says." Then we got back into groups and finished our language arts rotations and secret centers from the morning. When we were done we had a little extra time, so we drew pictures to end the day. Then we cleaned up and packed up for home.

Thanks again for coming to the Back to School Breakfast this morning at Third Street!
