The Letter V and Valentines

A busy day to start the week in Room 2. We started by collecting Friday Folders and our morning business. Then we read "My V Book" and brainstormed "V" words. For language arts rotations, students worked on "V" handwriting and made the tactile page "Vinyl on Vs on a Vest." At my table, we read "It Can Go, Go, Go" and worked on Valentine's Day cards. The other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited our new poem "There Was a Crooked Man" and had math. We introduced Topic 10 and worked on making 11, 12, and 13 by adding more to ten.

After lunch, we read about George Washington Carver in honor of African-American History month. Then we colored a picture of Mr. Carver. For Star of the Week, John shared his cool poster and took questions and comments from the class. We went to the big yard for P.E. and used balls and jump ropes. When we got back, Mr. A read "Mouse's First Valentine" to the class. Then we painted a secret project and then sewed a valentine heart and added  some handprints to it. Happily, we all finished. Then we packed up our things and lined up for home.

Be sure to note the important events in our homework packet this week. Our field trip is Thursday, our Valentine's Day party is Friday, and we don't have school next Monday.
