Tech Lab and the Letter U

We got back to our regular work on day 101 in Room 2.  We started our day with morning business. Then we read "My U Book" and brainstormed "U" words. For language arts rotations, students worked on neat and correct "U"s AND the tactile page "Utensils on Us on an Umbrella." We're doing two activities now since the class is finishing the tactile page so quickly and to give me more reading and journal time with me. At my table, we read "Go, Go, Go" and wrote opinion sentences. Students had to decide which pets they like more: dogs or cats.  Two other groups had secret centers.  After snack and recess, we had Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had us go to the first grade section of abcya.com and work on identifying numbers to 100. When we returned to the class, we recited "Little Boy Blue" and did some rhyming.

After lunch, we did some oral blending and shared several 100 Day projects. We still have a few more to go, but they look great so far!  For Star of the Week, Joel shared some toys. He had a firetruck, a camera, and a neat bug crawling toy called HexBug. Then we went outside with Mr. Bassett's fourth grade class and had "Play Buddies" on the big yard.  To end the day, we read "100 Days of School Plus One" and packed up for home!
