More with V

We had another good day in Room 2. We began with morning business, as usual. Then we read "Vera Viper's Valentine" and the class brainstormed "V" words. For language arts rotations, we worked on "V" phonics and writing sentences. At my table, we read "It Can Go, Go, Go" and made valentine cards. Two other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had the students make a bear using TuxPaint. When we got back to the room, we recited the poem "There Was a Crooked Man."

After lunch, we read "The Sweetest Valentines." We also did some rhyming, oral blending, and worked on sounding out cvc words. For math, we teamed up with a  partner to make 14, 15, and 16. John shared a lot of favorite toys for Star of the Week. The class enjoyed them all. Then the fourth grader from Mr. Bassett's Room 19 stopped by for Reading Buddies to end the day.
