Our Neighborhood

A busy and productive day in Room 2 this Thursday!  We started with our usual morning business. Then we read "W is for Woodpecker" and had Katie read us "Going to the Firehouse," which is one of her favorite books. For language arts rotations, we wrote letters to Katie, our Star of the Week. My table took the Topic 10 math test and read "Sam and Mat" book 5. The other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess. we recited "Humpty Dumpty" and had math. We introduced Topic 11 on Decomposing Numbers to 19. Then we worked on creating sets of numbers.

After lunch, we worked on oral blending, beginning sounds, and sight words. We had to cancel language mixing because Mr. Duffy was out today. Instead, we read "Communities" and made a picture of our neighborhood. Katie shared some nice pictures and another book ("Tinker Bell") for Star of the Week. We had P.E. on the big yard. When we got back we read a book on living in deserts and created a desert picture using chalk. Students used hot colors (red, orange, yellow) for the desert during the day, whiles others used cool colors (blue, green, purple) for the desert at night. They looked neat when they finished!  Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets tonight!
