More with W, P.E., and Katie's Birthday

Another fun and full day in Room 2 on Wednesday!  We started with morning business. Then we read "Worm's Wagon" and brainstormed more "W" words. At language arts rotations, we worked on a "W" phonics page and wrote sentences. My groups wrote in their journals about their favorite food. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Humpty Dumpty" and had math. We picked random numbers to 19 and showed them in a picture using shapes or flowers. They look neat!

After lunch, we read "Always Play Safe Outside," practiced oral blending, sounded out words, and sang "Apples and Bananas." For mixing with Mr. Duffy's class, my group talked about our new Treasures theme of "Neighborhood." We drew pictures of our home in the neighborhood. Next, we had Star of the Week. Katie shared three toys: a computer, a musical microphone, and a camera. The class like them a lot! We went out to the big yard for P.E. with Coach Angel after that. We practiced throwing and catching skills with velcro "E-Z Catch" balls and mitts.  To end the day, we celebrated Katie's birthday. Her mom and dad brought cupcakes, drinks, and treats.  They also generously passed out goody bags for the whole class as we lined up for home. Thank you!
