More with X, Plus Ava and Jakob's Birthday!

A quick and productive day in Room 2 this Tuesday!  We started off  with morning business. Then we read "A Xylophone for X-Ray Fish" and came up with more words with "X." At language arts rotations, students worked on "X" phonics and writing sentences with "X." My table read "Sit Tip!" and wrote about our favorite color in our journals. We finished a little early so we could have snack. Ava's mom brought the class cupcakes to celebrate her birthday. After singing to Ava and Jakob and eating our snacks, we had recess. After recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr. Riko had students use TuxPaint to draw their neighborhood using shape, line, and brush tools. They came out nice! We practiced the poem "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep" when we returned to the classroom.

After lunch, we read "Head to Toe" by Eric Carle and had math. Students used cubes to build parts of 17, 18, and 19. For Star of the Week, Lily shared three toys: a rainbow light, Pop the puppy, and Fluttershy, a doll from, I believe, My Little Pony. The class liked them a lot. To end the day, we went to Room 19 for Reading Buddies. When we got back, we packed up and lined up after Ava passed our some goody bags to everyone.
