Letters, Graphs, and Valentine Guy (or Girl)

A full day of activities today in Room 2! We started with morning business. Then we read Joel's other favorite book, "Curious George and the Dinosaur Discovery." At language arts rotations, we wrote a letter to Joel, our Star of the Week. At my table, we read the fourth "Sam and Mat" book and wrote in our journals about our favorite animal. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Little Boy Blue" and had math. Today we worked in groups to count crayons and make a graph. Then we looked at a picture and counted objects to color in another two graphs. We're definitely getting better at graphs, but we can still use some more practice.

After lunch, we did some oral blending and read some sight words on our new word wall. Then we had language mixing with Mr. Duffy. My group discussed "predator and prey." We came up with different animals that were predators, and what their prey was. For Star of the Week, Joel shared some nice photographs. We went out for P.E. on the big yard, but it started to rain, so we came back in. I didn't want to take any chances-we've had enough of us out sick (including me)! When we came back, we had art. We made Valentine Guy (or Girl). When students finished, they got some indoor recess/free time.  I think that was a good way to end the day.

Don't forget to finish up homework packets tonight!
