Silly Names, Sheep, and Color Wheels

We had a silly Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. It was "N is for Name" in our A to Z Countdown, so we thought of a nickname or silly name to go by for the day. We even wore nametags! Today our class was made up of: A, Doc, Aurora, Eleanor, Corbert, Max, Georg, Jaliyah, Marin, Bunny Max, Alexander Hamilton, Power Ranger, Tobias, John Cena, Speed Racer, Dribs, and Dr. Ricker. It was a bit confusing sometimes, but fun! For Star oft he Week, Rocco (ahem, John Cena) told some silly jokes to the class. We also read our letters to him. In Writer's Workshop, we talked about how writer's can change the world. We made opinion writing about a problem and tried to write how to solve it. Pretty challenging stuff, but very cool to read. After snack, we had Spanish. Sra. Colmenero showed the class more places that speak Spanish and talked about those cultures. In P.E., Mr Simatic had us learning and using our kicking and soccer skills. When we got back to the room, we had science. We talked more about animals before focusing on the sheep. We learned a couple of facts and then made our own fuzzy sheep using cotton balls.

After lunch, we recited "Bedtime" and our 95 sight words from the year. We also had math. We worked on making ten in different ways, and also made up stories to go with our number sentences. We had a rain-shortened recess outside before having art. We continued our topic of color. We reviewed the primary and secondary colors before making color wheels. We used divided plates to put red, yellow, and blue before mixing those colors in the in-between spaces to create orange, green, and purple. They look awesome! We had some free play before packing up Friday Folders and passing out prizes for twenty super star sticks. Then we lined up for home. Have a great weekend!
