Field Trip to the Oak Park Library

We had a great Tuesday in Room 203.  We began the day with a quick version of our morning activities because of our field trip. Then we started our "A to Z Countdown" by celebrating "A is for Animal" Day. We drew a favorite animal with our own stuffed animal nearby. Next, we met to go over the rules and schedule of our field trip. We got into groups before heading out on our walking trip to the Oak Park Library on Lake Street. We were fortunate that the rain held off for our walk there. When we arrived, we split into two groups. One group met Miss Genevieve and went on a tour of the library. They saw the Children's section, the aquarium, the book sorting machine, and some new books that are available to check out. The other group met Miss Jenny. She read some fun books called "Stuck," "I'm Bored," and "This Book Has No Pictures." She made them all a blast!  Then the groups switched. When we were done, we made our way back to Beye. We had a nice recess since we were so good on the trip. Then we headed inside to have our snacks. Finally, we read some "Ch" riddles and worked on some "Ch" phonics.

After lunch, we reviewed our sight words, recited "Wee Willie Winkie," and had Star of the Week. We reviewed what we know about Pinero before he shared some cool toys. He had an Iron Man, a TMNT mask, a BeyBlade, and a picture. The class like them all! Then we had our Tuesday specials. We heard a story and checked out a book with Mr. Withers and Mrs. Frost in the library. We learned more about the rain forest with Ms. J in Spanish. And we played Get Fast/Capture the Flag in P.E. with Mr. Simatic. We had a little fun free time with our animal friends to end our day before reviewing homework and packing up for home.

Special thanks to all of our field trip chaperones: Addison's dad, Ascencion's mom, Billie's grandma, Elise's mom, Pinero's friend, Quinn's mom, and Rocco's dad. Thank you all so much! We hope that you had fun too!
