Animal Research Reports, Kickball, and Color Collages

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 203. We began the day by bringing in our Animal Research Reports. They look great! It was "U is for Unique" in our A to Z Countdown, so we drew something that we have or do that is unique. We also read "Animal Dads." For Star of the Week, Zach read us part of his favorite book, "Dog Man." He did an awesome job!  Next, we had a kickball game as part of a school wide celebration. Our class and Mrs. Banks' first grade played on the field with Mr. Simatic as the pitcher. It was new, but fun to kick and run around the bases!  After snack and recess, we came in and shared some Animal Research Reports. Gavin shared his Great White Shark project and George read his report on the walrus. Nice! Then we had ELA Workshop. At independent tables, students played LexiaCore5 games on the iPads. My groups made Father's Day cards. We also visited a secret center. When we were done, Billie shared her spider monkey project and Elise read her report on the cardinal. Well done!

After lunch, Ellie shared her Narwhal project. Excellent!  Then we made color collages. We picked a color, drew objects that are that color on construction paper, and then cut and pasted them onto black paper. They look cool!  Some students didn't quite finish, so we will get them done at the end of the day tomorrow.  Next, we were introduced to the Beye Olympics. We broke into teams that are made up of every grade from K-5. We met our coach and teammates for Friday's activities, then went outside with all of the teams to say the Olympic Pledge. It should be fun! When we got back to the room, we packed up, reviewed what we need for Thursday's field trip, and shared our unique items.  See you tomorrow!

Be sure to bring a lunch with drink for the trip. Wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Chaperones, we will see you in room 203 around 9:00 A.M.
