Beach Day

We had a sunny Wednesday in Room 203. We began our day with our morning activities. It was "B is for Beach Day"in our A to Z Countdown, so everyone got  a chance to bring in a beach towel to lounge on for the day. We also made a beach picture. For Star of the Week, Pinero shared "Clifford the Big Red Dog." After Road to Reading, we had Writer's Workshop. Students picked their favorite "How-To" writing and polished it up to share for tomorrow.  After snack and recess, we had ELA Workshop. Students worked on "Ch" phonics and sentences independently while  my groups did some end of the year DIBELS testing. We also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Wee Willie Winkie," and discussed the ocean. We learned a few facts from "Commotion in the Ocean" before finding animals that live in the ocean. Next we took our beach towels outside and read a couple of books with friends in the sun. When we came in, we talked about being safe in Second Step. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
