The Letter Y

We had a busy Monday in Room 203. We began our day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities. They include: sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, counting the days in school, finding some Zero Heroes (today was day 140), reciting our poem, the alphabet song, the vowel song, the phonetic alphabet, and our morning exercises. We read "My 'X, Y, Z" Book" and came up with a few "Y" words before using crayons, glue, and yarn to make the tactile page "Yarn on 'Y's on a Yo-Yo." After Road to Reading, we practiced neat "y' handwriting and sentences. After snack and recess, we went to art. The class finished up some more work on their skylines with Ms. Sundquist.

After lunch, we learned our new sight words for the week, recited our new poem ("Yankee Doodle"), practiced some phonics skills, and took a math sprint. In music, we got through almost the whole "Three Piggy Opera" with Mrs. Hansen. When we got back to the room, we had math. We looked at making addition sentences with 8. Some started with the answer, some ended with the answer. Then we had a little addition practice to wrap up. For Star of the Week, we introduced Mekhi. He shared his cool poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day in the Computer Lab. We played some LexiaCore5 games before packing up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to check over homework packets for the week. I need all permission slips and library card applications by this Friday. Thanks!
