The Letter W

Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had a fantastic Spring Break! We had a nice Monday back in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and report card envelopes, and with our morning activities. They included sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, counting the days in school, reciting our poem, the alphabet song, the vowel song, the phonetic alphabet, and morning exercises. We read "My 'W' Book" and brainstormed some words that begin with "W." We also used crayons, glue, and gummy worms to make the tactile page "Worms on 'W's on a Window." After sharing what we did over Spring Break we worked on good "W" handwriting and sentences. After snack and recess, we went to Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class look at a book on skylines. The class started a project to make their own skyline using construction paper pieces. They will finish and add details next week.

After lunch, we learned our new sight words for the week, recited our new poem "Humpty Dumpty," and practiced some phonics skills. At Music, we practiced our songs for the "Three Piggy Opera." When we got back to the room, we read "The Tiny Seed" and started some "Tiny Seed" art. We sponge painted some stems, leaves, and petals with tempera paint. We will use those pieces to make a giant flower later in the week. For Star of the Week, we introduced Jaliyah. She shared her cool poster and took questions from the class. Since we do not have school on Tuesday, Jaliyah also brought some toys to share. She had a stuffed unicorn, a monkey, a puppy, a colorful giraffe, a pillow that she sewed, and a mermaid outfit. The class liked them all! To end the day, we went to the Computer Lab. We worked on LexiaCore5 games and activities. Then we packed up, reviewed homework packets for the week, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework for the week. Remember that we do not have school tomorrow because of the Teacher Institute. Please don't forget to vote!
